Understanding the Assignment Prompt
Thursday, November 12 · 6:00–6:45 pm · Writing Department Seminar Room

Open to undergraduates in all majors. Many writing struggles start before the first sentence, with uncertainty about what the professor is really asking for. In this workshop, you’ll practice breaking down assignment prompts: spotting key action words like analyze, compare, and evaluate, identifying requirements, and turning what you find into a plan for getting started. You’ll leave with a strategy you can use on any assignment. You’re always welcome to bring a confusing prompt to a Writing Center appointment, too.
