Our alumni include multiple General Officers, Brigade Commanders, a former Commander of the United States Army Special Operations Command, the former Commanding General of United States Army Special Forces Command, the former Director of the Joint Staff for the Maryland National Guard, and the current Deputy G-3 for Northern Command. We have also produced one of the select few Army Astronauts. There have been multiple 蜜桃传媒 alumni who have been selected to serve in prestigious and challenging positions, to include those within the 75th Ranger Regiment and Special Forces.

The First Greyhound
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Thomas "Tom" Bailey commissioned out of the inaugural class of 1955 and is considered the "First Greyhound". Alphabetically the first amongst the class of 1955, he was the first Cadet to pin on the rank of Second Lieutenant inside the Alumni Memorial Chapel in May of 1955. LTC(Ret) Bailey served a career of distinction with the 175th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division of the Maryland Army National Guard, and later in retirement as a distinguished member of the 175th Infantry Regiment Association.
In the spring of 1955, the 175th Infantry Regiment Association began the tradition of the "蜜桃传媒 ROTC Best Cadet" award. Throughout LTC(Ret) Bailey's career, throughout his retirement, and until his passing, LTC(Ret) Bailey upheld this unbroken tradition, evolving the award into the 175th Infantry Regiment Association Revere Bowl, a trophy that remains to this day within the Greyhound Battalion. Each year, LTC(Ret) Bailey would present a Cadet with the Revere Bowl as well as the Spirit of 1955 Award. Each spring, one extraordinary Cadet's name is engraved onto the Revere Bowl, an unbroken legacy of the Greyhound Battalion.
LTC(Ret) Bailey's story is legendary. A career Infantry Officer, LTC(Ret) Bailey completed Ranger School as part of Class Number 7 and was awarded the Order of Saint Maurice. In his final years, he gave everything to support the Greyhound Battalion, facilitating alumni engagement and attending dining ins, military balls, and commissioning ceremonies, still in his uniform.

Legacy Awards
On September 15, 1952, 蜜桃传媒鈥攖hen still known as 蜜桃传媒 College in Maryland鈥攄edicated the Alumni Memorial Chapel to honor graduates who gave their lives in World War II. The very next day, the Army ROTC program opened its doors鈥攐ne of only 25 universities chosen nationwide to pioneer the new 鈥渂ranch general鈥� model, what we now know as Senior ROTC. From that moment forward, 蜜桃传媒鈥檚 Greyhound Battalion has forged leaders of character grounded in the Army Values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.
The Greyhound Battalion Legacy Awards honor the alumni, benefactors, and leaders who carried these values through a lifetime of service, and who proudly bore the name Greyhound. These awards are neither given lightly nor often. They recognize seniors whose total actions across their entire time in the Greyhound Battalion set them apart, whose lives remind us that leadership and character are inseparable.
The Joseph, Patricia, & Christel Sacco Legacy Award for Loyalty
The Legacy Award for Loyalty honors extraordinary Cadets whose unwavering faithfulness to their mission, their peers, and their leaders reflects the truest measure of devotion鈥攕ervice before self. These Cadets do not speak of loyalty; they live it. They stand firm when others falter, lift others when the weight is heavy, and strengthen the unbreakable bond that defines the Greyhound Battalion.
This award bears the name of Joseph and Patricia Sacco and their daughter, Christel Hiltibran (n茅e Sacco) whose generosity and steadfast belief in this program helped lay the foundation for its enduring success. As benefactors who established the Greyhound Battalion Endowed Fund, the Sacco Family ensured that future generations of Greyhound Cadets would continue to receive unique, world-class experiential learning鈥攖raining that forges shared identity, brings leadership to life, and binds service across generations.
Christel Hiltibran (n茅e Sacco) commissioned as part of the Greyhound Battalion鈥檚 Class of 2011. In 2010, Christel helped lead the Greyhound Battalion鈥檚 Ranger Challenge team to its first-ever #1 finish. She has since served with distinction as a Military Intelligence Officer and Civil Affairs Officer in the Special Operations community, carrying forward her family鈥檚 legacy of loyalty and service.
To bear true faith and allegiance is to give of yourself completely鈥攖o believe in the mission, the team, and the people beside you. As the Soldier鈥檚 Creed declares: 鈥淚 am a warrior and a member of a team. I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.鈥� Loyalty begins there鈥攚hen you choose to stand for others, shoulder to shoulder, no matter the cost.
Recipients of the Legacy Award for Loyalty embody that creed. They strengthen the bonds that hold the team together and inspire others to do the same. Through their loyalty, they carry forward the enduring spirit of the Sacco Family and the proud legacy of the Greyhound Battalion.
The Colonel (Retired) Timothy J. Creamer Legacy Award for Duty
The Legacy Award for Duty honors extraordinary Cadets whose steadfast devotion to mission and team exemplifies what it means to place the mission first. These Cadets go beyond what is asked, inspiring others to hold themselves to the highest standard of professionalism, perseverance, and purpose.
This award bears the name of Colonel (Retired) Timothy J. Creamer, 蜜桃传媒 Class of 1982 and 2020 ROTC Hall of Fame inductee. Commissioned as an Army Aviator, COL (Ret) Creamer was the Distinguished Graduate of his flight school class, served in the 501st Attack Helicopter Battalion and the 17th Cavalry, 82nd Aviation Brigade, and earned a Master of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He later taught as an Assistant Professor of Physics at the U.S. Military Academy before being selected as a NASA astronaut. In 2009, he launched aboard Soyuz TMA-17 to dock with the International Space Station as part of Expedition 22/23, where he spent 163 days in space. He later led the 鈥淪aber Flight鈥� team as NASA Flight Director, the first astronaut to accomplish this transition.
Across more than thirty years of service to his nation鈥攊n uniform and in orbit鈥擟OL (Ret) Creamer demonstrated that duty is not bound by circumstance but defined by character. Whether leading Soldiers, managing missions that spanned continents and space, or inspiring the next generation of explorers, his example remains a reminder that excellence is an act of will, not of opportunity.
Duty is the measure of reliability, resolve, and responsibility when no one is watching. To fulfill one鈥檚 duty is to act鈥攄ay after day鈥攚hen it would be easier to stand still. It is to live the Warrior Ethos: I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade.

The Brigadier General (Retired) Edmond B. Nolley Jr. Legacy Award for Respect
The Legacy Award for Respect honors extraordinary Cadets who lead with humility, listen before they command, and treat others with dignity in every action. These Cadets understand that leadership begins with empathy鈥攖hat true authority is earned through fairness, patience, and care for others.
This award bears the name of Brigadier General (Retired) Edmond B. Nolley Jr., 蜜桃传媒 Class of 1968, whose lifetime of service reflects steadfast devotion to Soldiers, community, and country. Commissioned as an Armor Officer, he served on Active Duty for two years at Fort Hood, Texas before joining the Maryland Army National Guard as an Infantry Officer. Over the decades that followed, he commanded at every level from Infantry Company to Brigade and ultimately served as Assistant Adjutant General for the Maryland Army National Guard.
In retirement, BG (Ret) Nolley continued to serve through Gilchrist, Maryland鈥檚 leading nonprofit provider of serious illness and end-of-life care. As a volunteer with their 鈥榃e Honor Veterans鈥� program, he has conducted hundreds of 鈥楽alute to Service鈥� ceremonies鈥攑ersonally presenting flags and tokens of gratitude to veterans in their final days, ensuring their service is recognized and their dignity preserved. Whether comforting families or keeping vigil beside a veteran鈥檚 bed, his presence embodies respect in its purest form: to honor, to listen, and to stand with others when it matters most.
Respect is the foundation of trust and the quiet strength that binds teams together in peace and in war. It is the recognition of worth in every person, the discipline to lead with grace, and the humility to serve with honor. As the National Guard motto declares: 鈥淎lways Ready, Always There.鈥�

The Colonel (Retired) Frank E. Hilsher Legacy Award for Selfless Service
The Legacy Award for Selfless Service honors extraordinary Cadets who devote themselves completely to the mission, the team, and the community without thought of recognition or reward. These Cadets lead from the front yet think first of those beside them. They embody the quiet strength of service that sustains the Army and elevates all who wear its uniform, serving not for acclaim but for the good of others and the success of the team.
This award bears the name of Colonel (Retired) Frank E. Hilsher, Distinguished Military Graduate and 蜜桃传媒 Class of 1968, whose life and career reflect the highest ideals of selfless service. Upon commissioning as an Ordnance Officer with a branch detail to Armor, he served three years in Germany with the 4th Armored Division鈥攍ater redesignated the 1st Armored Division鈥攃ulminating as Public Information Officer reporting directly to Brigadier General George S. Patton IV, Assistant Division Commander for Support and son of General George S. Patton III. Continuing to answer his nation鈥檚 call with courage and humility, he then graduated from U.S. Army Quartermaster School enroute to Long Binh Post, United States Army, Vietnam from 1971-1972, where he served as Branch Chief, Major Items and Repair Parts, for Theater assets and all U.S. Army and Army of the Republic of Vietnam tube artillery. Later serving as a Transportation Officer, he held the position of Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans (G-3) for the Department of the Army leading into the First Gulf War in 1990, until being promoted to Branch Chief at the Pentagon. Into retirement, COL (Ret) Hilsher continued to serve with the Army Manpower Team, conducting Base Realignment and Closure missions across sites including the Panama Canal Zone, California, Illinois, Texas, West Point, and Virginia, and staff reviews within the Pentagon for the Deputy Chief of Staffs for Logistics (G-4). His career stands as proof that genuine leadership is measured in service to others and in the enduring power of example.
After his military service, COL (Ret) Hilsher continued that same quiet dedication through the Star-Spangled Banner Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, where he serves as First Vice President and Committee Chair for Army ROTC. The chapter鈥檚 motto, 鈥淪till Serving,鈥� reflects his enduring commitment to the nation and its next generation of leaders. Through his guidance and advocacy since 2000, thousands of Cadets across twelve Maryland colleges and universities鈥攊ncluding 蜜桃传媒鈥攈ave been mentored, recognized, and inspired to meet the challenges of commissioned service. Over a lifetime of unwavering support, COL (Ret) Hilsher has strengthened the bridge between past and present generations, faithfully upholding the Greyhound tradition of service long after the uniform is hung. Each year, he presents commissioning Cadets across Maryland with copies of the Army Officer鈥檚 Guide and the United States Constitution, timeless reminders of duty and oath.

The Lieutenant General (Retired) Michael F. Spigelmire Legacy Award for Honor
The Legacy Award for Honor recognizes Cadets of exceptional integrity, moral courage, and devotion to ethical conduct who reflect the highest ideals of the Army Profession鈥攍iving the Army Values without compromise, on duty and in daily life, in peace and in peril.
This award bears the name of Lieutenant General (Retired) Michael F. Spigelmire, 蜜桃传媒 Class of 1960 and 2016 ROTC Hall of Fame inductee. Commissioned through 蜜桃传媒 ROTC as an Infantry Officer, he served with the 10th Special Forces Group and the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam, answering the nation鈥檚 call with courage and distinction. His steadfast devotion to Soldiers and to the Army Values forged a reputation for character and honor.
He rose to command at every level鈥擝attalion, Brigade, and Division鈥攁nd ultimately led the United States Army Infantry as its Chief and Commandant. Under his leadership, Fort Benning was recognized as the Best Installation in the Department of Defense for several years. He later commanded U.S. Army Special Operations Command and VII Corps in Germany, overseeing the honorable inactivation of the Corps and the return of 80,000 Soldiers home.
As the Infantryman鈥檚 Creed declares: 鈥淚 am my country鈥檚 strength in war, her deterrence in peace. I am the heart of the fight鈥� wherever, whenever. I am what my country expects me to be.鈥�

The Colonel (Retired) William "Randy" Everett Legacy Award for Integrity
The Legacy Award for Integrity honors extraordinary Cadets whose actions are grounded in truth鈥攚ho speak with honesty, lead with principle, and remain steadfast when the easy path would compromise what is right. These Cadets understand that integrity is more than honesty; it is the courage to hold fast to one鈥檚 values when tested, and the discipline to do what is right even when no one is watching.
This award bears the name of Colonel (Retired) William 鈥淩andy鈥� Everett, whose life and career exemplify the highest ideals of moral courage and professional integrity. A career Infantry and Special Forces Officer commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 1978 and inducted into the OCS Hall of Fame in 2012, COL (Ret) Everett devoted more than forty-nine years of service to the Department of Defense as a Soldier, contractor, and federal civilian. His assignments included Detachment Commander of a Special Forces A-Team in 1982, Battalion Commander of 2nd Battalion, 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division from 2001 to 2003, Bilateral Affairs Officer to Bosnia in 2003, Operations Officer on a Border Transition Team in Iraq from 2006 to 2007, and Director of International Affairs (J-5) at the National Guard Bureau. Later, as the International Armaments Cooperation Staff Officer at the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), he continued to demonstrate that leadership is not measured by position but by principle.
After retiring from active service, he continued that same quiet dedication as an educator and mentor. As a faculty member at 蜜桃传媒, Dr. Everett has taught in areas of Principles of Leadership, International Business, and Strategic Business Policy. He leads the Greyhound Battalion鈥檚 annual Staff Ride to Gettysburg, where Cadets confront not only the tactics of battle but the moral weight of command.
Integrity is the unshakable bond of trust between leader and led鈥攖he union of conscience and action that makes courage possible and service honorable. As the Special Forces Creed declares: 鈥淚 serve with the memory of those who have gone before me. I pledge to uphold the honor and integrity of their legacy, in all that I am鈥攊n all that I do.鈥�

The Captain (Retired) Gregory Galeazzi, M.D. Legacy Award for Personal Courage
The Legacy Award for Personal Courage honors extraordinary Cadets who stand firm in the face of fear, who act when the cost is high, and when doubt and danger test the limits of resolve. These Cadets do not wait for certainty; they step forward when others might falter, proving that true courage is not the absence of fear but the triumph over it.
This award bears the name of Captain (Retired) Gregory Galeazzi, Class of 2007, the youngest of three brothers鈥擩ohn Galeazzi, Class of 2000, and Steven Galeazzi, Class of 2004鈥攚ho each commissioned through 蜜桃传媒鈥檚 Greyhound Battalion. Together, their family鈥檚 service tells a single story鈥攐f loyalty that endures, of duty passed from brother to brother, and of the unbreakable bond forged in service and sacrifice. Through them, the spirit of the Greyhound Battalion lives on across generations.
Commissioned as an Infantry Officer and trained as a Ranger, CPT (Ret) Galeazzi led Soldiers of Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division during combat operations in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011, inheriting the position of Platoon Leader after the unit鈥檚 previous Platoon Leader, First Lieutenant (1LT) Mark A. Noziska, was killed in action by an improvised explosive device. On May 26, 2011, while leading his men on a combat patrol through rural farmland in Kandahar Province, CPT (Ret) Galeazzi was struck by another improvised explosive device, losing both legs and sustaining severe injuries to his right arm. Initially classified as a triple amputee, surgeons fought to save his arm鈥攁nd succeeded. Through more than fifty surgeries and years of recovery, he never surrendered his purpose or his will to serve.
Guided by that same conviction, he found a new way to serve, earning his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and dedicating his life to healing. Dr. Galeazzi鈥檚 journey from battlefield to medicine stands as a testament to resilience鈥攖he triumph of spirit over circumstance and of purpose over pain.
The Ranger Creed declares: 鈥淪urrender is not a Ranger word. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.鈥�
